[Unfortunately for Dhaos, Grune steps forward as she actually remembers what else she came here to do, thereby preventing him from closing the door.]

Dhaos, you should come meet all my friends!

[The answer is out of his mouth before he's even fully understood that he can't close the door on her now. No. Absolutely not. It had been so close, for six months, and because he had allowed himself to get distracted and forget his purpose it was gone, and he is not in the mood.

No. Sorry, Grune, but Dhaos is not planning on going anywhere today.]

[That brings her up short.] Why not?

[Wasn't he lonely?]

[Somehow, Dhaos checks his anger.] Not today. Later.

[Later. He would deal with Grune later. Dhaos is currently a broiling conglomeration of frustration and rage and none of it has anything to do with anyone but himself, and he needs to be alone.]

[She looks about in confusion.] Are you busy right now?

...No. Now is simply not a good time.

[He really, really doesn't want to have to explain this to Grune.]

[...Dhaos looks sad. Did something happen?]

I am... preoccupied.

[That's the best way to put it, really. He wasn't doing anything, but his mind had no room for such trivialities at the moment.]

[She gives him a concerned look.] You don't look like you're thinking about very happy things. Why don't we talk about it a little? Everything is always better when you have a friend helping you.

[Dhaos shakes his head. The last thing he needs is for Grune to get involved in this.]
