[He's going to hold you to that, Grune. Starting now. He's not sure how wise it would be to go to his bedroom with Grune likely to follow at his heels, so he turns away from her and goes to open a window instead.

...Where had that persona come from? Was it a memory he had forgotten, or was it a hidden corner of his own heart...?]

[For the moment, Grune just drifts around the main area of his apartment.

Hmm.... She should bring him some flowers, to make it more cheerful.]

[He had plenty of them when he wasn't around to appreciate the sentiment. In fact, there may be a few dried flowers left for her to find.

But he's not paying attention to her. He's still looking out the window, thinking... With the way he was, he probably had been that bad off at some point, without even realizing it.]

[Grune does find one or two, and she makes sure to tidy them away for him. That done, she comes to stand by Dhaos' side and slips her hand into his.]

[Dhaos doesn't start so much as twitch in surprise-- as deep in thought as he was, Grune's hand somehow finding its way into his is never really very surprising anymore.

There really isn't anything for either of them to say, so he'll be content with the silence.]

[She gives his hand a squeeze and steps just a little closer. As long as Dhaos knows she's near, he won't be so sad anymore.]

[Indeed, it would be impossible to maintain that state of panicked denial with Grune at his side, but Dhaos always finds ways to be sad.

He gives no reaction to her actions, only breathing deeply of the air blowing in through the window.]

[After a while, she gently rests her head against his shoulder.

The view from Dhaos' apartment is so pretty. She had forgotten.]

[Once again, Dhaos makes no reaction. But he does allow her to stay there. It would be rather rude to shake her off, when she only wanted him to feel better...]

[A while later, she asks:] Are you feeling all right now?

...Better, I suppose. [It isn't as acute now, really.]

[She smiles.] Good. I'm glad.

...Mm.

...Thank you, Grune.

[She gives his hand a little squeeze.]

You're welcome. I'm happy I could help.

...Do not let this prevent you from returning to the amusement park.

Oh, I'll go a little later. [She wants to make sure Dhaos is all better.]

...If you insist. [At least she won't let it prevent her from enjoying her free time.]

[She's quiet for a little while, then says:] This is a nice place.

[She gets a noncommittal grunt in response.] I am not particularly interested in making it look 'nice'.

[He mainly likes it because it's his space in Luceti, where no one will bother him.]

[Except Grune.

She looks up at him.] Why not?

[Except Grune.]

...There is little need.

[It wouldn't feel like home even if he tried.]

But it feels nice to make your home look pretty. Then it feels like you're being welcomed home whenever you come inside.

[Tread very carefully here, Dhaos....]

[Dhaos does not see the danger here.]

I have no need of being welcomed home.

[That earns him a troubled look.]

Oh, no, everyone should feel welcomed home.

[Dhaos shakes his head.] It is difficult to consider a place such as this 'home'.
