Problems with Dhaos, my playing, or me?  I need to hear them!  Anon commenting is on, folks.

Important links!

Appointment Post - For all the threads that don't warrant their own post!
Canon Notes - Where I discuss the differences between what my Dhaos remembers and what is in the game.  Mostly for the benefit of castmates, but if you're familiar with Tales of Phantasia you might want to read it as well.
CR Chart - Obvious. Dhaos' opinions of his fellow residents.
Abilities/Info Survey - Explanation of Dhaos' capabilities, as well as that giant info survey that tends to get around RP communities. Squished into one entry to save space >__>
Thread History - All of Dhaos' threads! ...That I remember to add, anyway. Sob. Threads prior to January '12 are on Livejournal!
Luceti Application - My application for Luceti. Contains usual pre-game fail.

Thank you!

[There's been... a lot going on recently. Between threats from the Malnosso and the recent violence in the village itself, it's beginning to feel a little hectic around here.

Once the sun starts going down, when it's not quite as hot out, Dhaos makes his way out to the forest (way out to the forest: he even flies to make more distance) and just starts lighting it up. He hasn't used magic properly in a long time, so he's working out any kinks that may have developed since then now, and then moving on to pointlessly impressive spells. Things like Tetra Spell and its constituent spells, Flare Tornado, and generally hideously flashy stuff he would never dream of doing anywhere near the village. He could just use the Battle Dome, but, well... it still leaves a bad taste in his mouth. He'll be out there well after night falls, but feel free to catch him on his way out of the village, or on his way back in the morning the next day.]
whatdeheckisdat: (unhappyface)
[Grune, Norma-- why is everyone suddenly getting kidnapped? All at once? It was an entire year before Dhaos witnessed the kidnapping of anyone he paid attention to other than himself, and then within the space of a month, there were two. It calls to mind something he heard a resident once say over the journals; he can't recall who it was (though he recalls not thinking much of the person in question), or in what context, but the message stuck in his mind:

The second year is the hardest.

...Along with several other comments about how half-year residents are more optimistic. But anyway, it certainly does appear to be proving true, in Dhaos' case.

This train of thought leads Dhaos to realize that there is one other person he cares for that appears to be missing in action. It's a long way from CH3 to House 8, so feel free to catch him on the way over! And by now it ought to go without saying that he is randomly stargazing somewhere at night.]

whatdeheckisdat: (wat de hek is dat)
[Well, this is kind of weird.

Dhaos lives on the sixth floor of CH3, if you'd like to accost him there, but as it happens he has vague, unspecified errands to run in town. As much as he'd rather stay at home with all this ruckus outside, he's finding that his luck just doesn't permit such luxuries.

Feel free to ask him what his vague, unspecified errands are, of course! 8D]
whatdeheckisdat: (here are all the logics)
You know what, I'm probably going to cut the first half of the rest of my posts whether they're actually irritatingly long or not. )

Instead of gracing you all with yet another remark on the proximity and malevolence of the moon, allow me to point out that the Malnosso are not accepting mission registrations until next month. One can only assume that they believe we will still be alive and in proper condition to volunteer ourselves on the 1st, which would generally imply that they do not believe a local apocalypse to be terribly likely.  Unless they want to wait a week or so, they will most likely have some way to keep the residents alive, if indeed the moon collides with the village at all.

Feel free to be as concerned as you believe the situation calls for, but remember that the continued existence of the village is in the Malnosso's best interest.

[Dhaos isn't leaving: he can be found either idly wandering the village or, more likely, in the library again, passing the time by looking for something to read and answering replies on his journal. The moon makes stargazing a bit of an impossibility, obviously, but he will be outside at night, watching the moon fall. Matter of habit, perhaps? He won't be on a rooftop, though. Probably fell out of the sky sometime when the power cap hit 100% or something.

He had to admit it was rather ominous-looking whether the logic behind it worked or not.]
whatdeheckisdat: (nostalgic)
Probably should have done this six months ago. )

Filtered to Martel, after Mithos' attempt )

[The filter breaks.

...

Dhaos closes the journal and hurls it into the opposite wall. Sorry, Luceti, no announcements from him.  Feel free to question the filter failure-- or not.

Anywho, regardless of his mood when she arrives, [livejournal.com profile] lostinmyway has decided it's about time she fulfilled that promise to introduce Dhaos to all her friends. If you are on Grune's CR chart, if you have ever spoken to Grune even once, or even if you've never met either of them in your life, Grune wants you to meet Dhaos. Come make the poor Demon King's life as awkward as possible!  He's also available at night, as always.]
whatdeheckisdat: (twisted)
[As the feed begins, the journal topples to the ground and reveals a bottom-up view of a Malnosso drone, head punched clean off and holding a familiar orange mantle in one hand.  It doesn't seem terribly fazed by the sudden lack of a robotic cranium, as it merely drops the mantle and moves on.

One frighteningly feral snarl later, a HUGEFRIGGIN' laser shoots across the screen.

If it hit anything, however, it certainly didn't hit all of them; another drone steps onto the journal, ending the transmission.]
whatdeheckisdat: (nostalgic)
TL;DR Ramblings )

Anyway, now that it's been long enough for Dhaos to think back on the experiment without throwing a fit or something similar, it's time to get something he's been wondering about straight. This is his first time using a filter, so he's not sure he has it done correctly, but he does his best.]

Filtered to Martel )

[Written, Unfiltered]

What are your worlds called? Do the people of different regions call it something different? Is there a meaning behind the name, or has it been lost to the ages?

[And after a minute:]

And if there is anyone else here from Derris-Kharlan, I would like to know.

[And he can be found reading in the library/on top of the library. It's been a little while and he still hasn't read up on any of the other worlds, so he's rectifying that today. And as always, feel free to find him stargazing at night.]
whatdeheckisdat: (smiling)
[After locating his wife and sending out a message for his other family members, Dhaos can be found around the village with Grune. They're supposed to be out looking for the other members of Dhaos' family, so feel free to find them wherever!  He's in a good mood for now, but with a wife as absentminded and busty as Grune, things are bound to happen.  And Dhaos is a bit of an overprotective husband...

...Yes, for those who didn't know, in this AU, Dhaos is married to Grune. Fun, right?  Tags will probably come from both Dhaos and the lovely [livejournal.com profile] lostinmyway .]
whatdeheckisdat: (not good)
...

[Anyone hanging around the south side of town will find themselves a rather disoriented angel casting a wary, confused look around. He's wearing his headband and cloak/mantle, but underneath he's got nothing but the New Feather pants on. Yep, it's a new arrival. He'll change properly once he finds somewhere to do so.

Dhaos wandered into town after finding himself somewhere east of the southern river. His journal is tucked safely in the hammerspace behind his cloak-- he suspects it's magitech and would destroy it, except he'd like to know who put his name on it and what exactly it is before he does so. This place did not seem to be on Aselia... And most of the presences in this town seemed to be human, so he was definitely not on Derris-Kharlan. Untrustworthy though humans were, they were idle enough not to attack if he concealed his identity. He'll keep quiet until he learns where he is...  Until he can find a way to get out of here and possibly find another way back to Derris-Kharlan.  He has yet to find a Seed, and as long as he's alive again he's going to keep trying.

Alive again.  It was surreal and mind-reeling, but he decided he would put off his shock until he figured this out.

...Yeah, he's getting nowhere fast. Anyone want to help a confused Demon King out?  I apologize in advance for his untalkativeness.]

Because what the heck, they change every fight thread. Sort of in progress-- you can get a general idea of how Dhaos' abilities work here, but I know I'm missing things. Feel free to point out mistakes or make suggestions! Also, see Angie's comments at the bottom for a more informed opinion.

Abilities )

TL;DR I should play characters that aren't the single most powerful thing on their respective planets. It's much easier.

Canon Notes

Mar. 1st, 2011 10:07 pm
whatdeheckisdat: (tears)
The Tales of Phantasia Drama CDs and the side novel, Katararezaru Rekishi, are both intended to be completely compatible with the original game canon, and in fact explain a lot of things the game insinuates but never clarifies (ie, how Morrison knew Jestorna's name already, when he and Dhaos met before the war, why Rhea wasn't killed alongside her parents, etc.).  The problem here is that the Drama CDs take advantage of not being videogames and add some extra dialogue during fight scenes that were not in the game.  These lines are kinda sorta extremely important pieces of my Dhaos' memory, and I realize that if a castmate isn't clear on the differences between recollections, we may end up with an unintentional explosion of violence as Dhaos accuses the party of lying and the party assumes he's just insane, as they have no idea what he's talking about and Dhaos isn't the most stable person in the world anyway.

While it makes for an awesome plot, I have no desire to suddenly spring this sort of thing on another mun who might be unaware of the differences between the Drama CDs and the main game.  So I've come up with a small list of the things Dhaos will remember differently (and a whole bunch of other things now too, because let's face it this is just a giant canon dump post), and his possible reactions should he be told that this isn't quite what happened.  It's mostly Drama CDs stuff, as KataReki takes place pre-game and is thus largely irrelevent.

If you want Dhaos' KataReki history anyway, just check his page on the Luceti Wiki.  I've got a lame summary up there, too. Do beware of NDX spoilers there, however.

CANONMATES

Arche Klaine

[❡ ❢ ✔ ✯ ❚ ✾ ➷ ❱ ✘]
As with all the Heroes of Eternity, Dhaos harbors resentment and enmity against Arche for her role in his problems. He understands that he gave them no choice, but believes that their involvement only worsened the problem for everyone involved. As such, they're not fighting, but he acts cold and distant towards her and is unlikely to change his opinion any time soon. He has some respect for her as an accomplished sorceress, however.

Grune

[❦ ❤ ✿ ❡ ¿ ⟲]
Dhaos' relationship with Grune is... complicated. It's gotten to the point where he actually allows her to drag him into her silly excursions, and somehow she knows more about him and his past than anyone else in Luceti. He still can't believe the kind of situations he keeps getting himself into with her around, but he's at least learned that there's no way to avoid her.

Mithos

[✹ ✾ ➷ ❇ ❱ ✘]
With Mithos' recent attack on Grune and Yuan's story about the Age of Lifeless Beings and its connection to Derris-Kharlan, Mithos has lost any and all trust Dhaos might have once had in him-- which wasn't very much to begin with. Though allegedly the one responsible for putting life on Dhaos' home planet, Mithos is too violent and reminiscent of Reisen for Dhaos to bear anything but growing ill-will towards him.

Norma

[✿ ✔ ✠ ¿]
...

Sheena

[❡ ❢ ✔ ¿ ❚]
Sheena has gotten past the automatic 'just another human' label Dhaos puts on most villagers, though there still isn't anything in the way of trust beyond basic truth-telling ability and tendency to not erupt in violence at the drop of a hat. They've actually had a civil conversation or two, and she was the one who alerted him to the gravity of Mithos' intentions for Derris-Kharlan, so Dhaos is willing to put aside the mistrust. She hasn't lied to him yet.

Yuan

[✿ ❡ ✠ ⟲]
Yuan is, so far, the only person Dhaos considers an equal. Reserved, level-headed and very informed about Aselia and Derris-Kharlan's shared past, Yuan may have been deliberately hiding details about Derris-Kharlan from Dhaos, but can't really be blamed for deciding it was a bad idea. Dhaos is even less likely to reveal anything about himself or Derris-Kharlan and Aselia's future now, but after fighting alongside him during a draft, he knows Yuan can be trusted.

The usual.

[OOC]

1). Backtagging: Of course!  Are you kidding?  I'll backtag forever with you.  Don't be afraid to tag old posts, especially if it's my most recent one.  If not, just ping me so we can avoid time paradoxes.
2). Threadhopping: Not only allowed, but encouraged! No, I'm not kidding. Don't even ask first, unless you feel the thread really only belongs to Dhaos and the other character.  Dhaos will just tell your character to leave if there isn't space.
4). Fourthwalling: Dhaos wouldn't believe you, but feel free to try.  LOL.
5). Canon puncture: Dhaos was created for canon puncture!  Go right ahead.
6). Offensive subjects (elaborate): Eh...  Can't think of any right now.  If I feel weird about something, I'll let you know.

[IC]

1). Hugging this character: Feel free, but he's extremely adverse to physical contact, so expect resistance and glares.
2). Kissing this character: Will result in a laser to the face.  But again, I can't control what your character does, so if that's what (s)he does and you're alright with the consequences, go ahead!
3). Flirting with this character: Yep!  But don't expect much more than "..." in response.  LOL.  He's taken.
4). Fighting with this character: I fail powerful characters forever, so I use every excuse (including Dhaos' dislike of violence) to avoid fight threads.  However!  You are free to attack him if you are ready to face the fact that he is outrageously strong and powerful.
5). Injuring this character (include limits and severity): Pain is welcome!  Dhaos is invulnerable to physical attack, so it shouldn't be anything too severe.  I'll let you know if I'm having trouble with a fight thread.
6). Killing this character: If you can think of a way to kill Dhaos, throw it my way and we'll find some way to make it happen.  Just don't do it before asking me, and we should be good!
7). Using telepathy/mind reading abilities on this character: As far as the ability of your character to read Dhaos' mind, just keep in mind that Dhaos is an angel.  He's got spirit, but his resolve has been slowly dwindling over the years, so use your discretion.

Aaaand now for things I need YOUR permission on! )
